The next PHP version (8.1) will bring a lot of exciting new features. One of them is the Fibers extension built directly into the core. But what problems is this extension intended to solve? Does this mean that we no longer need to use async frameworks such as Swoole or ReactPHP? In this talk, we will discover together that concurrent execution does not mean simultaneous execution. We will tackle the advantages and disadvantages of so-called green threads. And most importantly, we will see if it is worth the effort.
