It was only a matter of time before Aston Martin’s alarming F1 slump claimed casualties and the first major consequence has now become known.
The nosedive in form across the last 18 months or so, from its early 2023 peak, has been irreversible, leading to criticism from its drivers about the inability to improve the car at all through this season - and almost certainly pressure from Aston’s notoriously impatient chairman and owner Lawrence Stroll.
Aston has stayed loyal to its senior staff for longer than some modern F1 teams have during prolonged periods of disappointment, but finally there is a major change: Dan Fallows will “no longer serve” as the team’s technical director.
