Less than 24 hours ago, news broke that former youngest MVP Derrick Rose has been waived by the Memphis Grizzlies, although some reports like Bleacher are saying he wanted and was let out of the final year of his 2 years 6.5 million contract he signed with the team summer 2023. Scrolling through social media I learned the news and it felt like for a second everything stopped as far as my thoughts. As they have when he was traded from the Bulls, allowed to walk by the Knicks and signed in Cleveland, traded to Utah and acquired by the Timberwolves, signing with Detroit, traded back to the Knicks, and had his option declined then signing with the Grizzlies until he was waived. Every move he's made has stopped time for me, happy that he’s made it this far, 15 seasons in the league, 16 if you count the year he missed completely in 2012-13, but also heartbroken as a basketball fan that this turned out to be how his career is going as far as what was supposed to have been of the gifts he was given as an athlete. Some say he is and some say he isn’t a hall of famer, and I land on feeling Derrick Rose should make the hall of fame, maybe not first ballot, but somewhere down the line, because we all know where his career was going if not for injuries. Either way, it was fun to watch imo the most beautiful point guard Derrick Rose in his prime.
