Gerty is a street dog who had been hit by a car. Her fur is dirty; she probably was rolled, too. She appeared lifeless, but as we approached we could see the faint stirrings of her breathing. But Gerty was deeply hurt. We just didn't know where, at first.
She did have a small wound on her head but further examination and time revealed nerve damage to her spine, causing her to have permanent neck damage.
It took several months for Gerty to recover-- many days during which she needed extra love and encouragement between hours and hours of the deep sleep her poor body needed. Diligence paid oh so sweetly. Meet gorgeous Gerty now!
