This is the all-new Audi A5!

We’ve got our hands on the fully updated A5, and Mat’s about to see how it compares to its two key competitors - the BMW 3 Series, and the Mercedes C-Class. The question is, in this three-way German saloon battle, which is the best pick? Let’s take a closer look at the Audi.

Regarding the exterior design, there are several updates over the previous model, although it’s largely just more of the same. Up front, there’s a bigger grille and chunkier headlights, while around the back there’s a full-width light bar with a whole load of customisation options. There’s also one big update - the exhaust tips are 100% real!

Step inside and there is a whole host of tech to be found. There’s a huge digital dial & infotainment screen, and there’s even a third screen on the front passenger’s side. The infotainment is super quick and responsive, and the seats are relatively comfortable. Soft touch materials cover higher-up areas of the cabin, although it’s all a bit scratchy and cheap the lower down you reach.

In terms of performance, the Audi A5 range starts with a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol that can deliver around 150hp. The car we have here is the 2-litre turbo diesel, and this can deliver 204hp and 400Nm.

The A5 range starts from around £42,000, which is slightly more than the BMW (£41,000), while also being a bit cheaper than the Mercedes (£45,000). But is it the smart choice? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!
